Term 2 Interschool Sports Report

It was a term of ‘almost’ for Sirius College, as the schools various year level Soccer teams came close to progressing through to the Regional tournament, but found themselves coming off second best, sometimes by the slimmest of margins.

While the Intermediate Boys Soccer team enjoyed an early confidence building victory, they found themselves up against some strong competition and failed to progress through the group stage. The Year 7 Boys pulled out some amazing play, coming back from a 2-0 score line at half time in their first game to finish the game 2-2. Another draw and a close loss would not be enough to see them through to the finals however, but an impressive days plan none the less.

The Girls also found themselves coming close to progressing in a few tournaments, but also just falling short. The Year 8 Girls Soccer team were undefeated in the group stage of their tournament, only to go down 1-0 against Dandenong in a tense Semi Final. The Year 7 Girls Soccer team were dominant in not losing a game, but unfortunately this only got them a second place finish on the day, missing out on goal difference. The Intermediate and Year 8 netball teams fought hard as well, but were bested on the day.

Well done to all students who competed throughout Semester 1, and hopefully Term 3 holds more success for Sirius College, with Basketball and Indoor Soccer coming up!
